Tomorrow – Nov. 5 (Sat.) is Popcorn Pickup
Here is what you need to know.
Volunteers Needed:
Den Distribution:
Each Den needs to have 4-6 individuals who are willing to go thru the orders and pull the Dens popcorn and sort it into individual orders. It’s not hard work but detail is important. Please contact your den leader if you can do this.
Time: Arrive at Saint Mark’s at 12:30. If the Den is running shifts (which is typical) contact your Den Leader. Many hands make quick work of this.
DA BIG TRUCK:
aka: Johnny gets to drive a 20′ U-Haul
At 9:00am we are driving a truck to Ontario to pull our order, stack it in a truck and meet the rest of the volunteers at Saint Mark’s. We can always use some other able bodies to go with us to pull inventory and load. I think I can safely say we’ll be the biggest dog in the lot and it would be sad to show up with two guys.
Individual family pickup
2:30 – 4:00 Families can begin arriving to pickup their orders at 2:30. ALL ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP BY 4:00. If you cannot make it to the parking lot between 2:30 and 4:00 have someone get your order. We do not store popcorn for families, you must make arrangements.
The caveats:
This year has been full of surprises. First the council pushed the sale period forward which impacted our sale window. Then they pushed the pickup date forward based on the first change. We set our schedule in June, thinking we were ahead of the game and were caught flat-footed when we discovered the change. THEN they moved the pickup location from Monrovia to Ontario. Perhaps most importantly, we lost our Popcorn Chair and the leadership has taken it on in addition to our other volunteer duties. We apologize if this has seemed to be a keystone-cop fire-drill but from our side it’s been more like falling out of an airplane and learning that they distributed parachutes last week. In spite of that… they boys rose to the occasion and if you attend the November Pack Meeting you’ll learn all the details! See you tomorrow.
