A quick update on how we are planning to reach out to families.
If you’ve been wondering what is going on with pack updates, you’re not alone. We’ve been trying to figure out the best way to put content on our website and update our families without of list uploads and gyrations. Here is the quick plan.
email
Pack-wide emails will be distributed via Mailchimp. We are driving that list from REGISTERED users at the pack website. Our initial communication is to every email on file but this is a one time update. From this point forward, you must be registered with the website to receive one of these emails.
Not all posts to the blog will be pushed out as an email. We will reserve the email updates for important information and event updates.
RSS
If you want to see every post the minute it comes on the site, subscribe to an RSS feed. The RSS feeds have been organized around Den level so you can get up-to-date posts on only our den. Visit the members page for these links or see the widget sidebar on the home page.
Why Register
We are trying to build a one point-of-contact environment for our pack families. As the site matures we intend to post “How-to” articles, posts on local camping and more. We will also be using this site for all of our event management functions. By registering, you create the underlying account for us to reach out to and can then stay up-to-date on Pack 1 events.
Questions
Q. Can I use my son’s email as the primary point of contact?
A. No, we need an adult as our contact. Cub Scouts requires a participating Akela as the point of contact and we will carry that policy to our website.
Q. Can my spouse and I both register?
A. Absolutely. A family may have more than one member registered to ensure that you get all the necessary updates.
Q. What happens if I don’t register?
A. You won’t receive any email updates from the Pack. Simple as that. Your Den leadership may choose to communicate via their personal email or by phone, that’s fine. But if you want pack updates on topics such as Pinewood Derby, Pack Outings and upcoming events, you’ll need to be on our mail list and that is only done with registering.
Q. If we register more than one email, can we cancel one later?
A. Yes. You can deactivate your registration with the Pack and also unsubscribe to the mailchimp list.
Q. What do I do if I have questions?
A. Contact the cubmaster John Culpepper or speak with your den leader.
