Keith. For a transferring scout, fill out a youth application and at the top of the form is an area to fill in what unit your son is coming from (Council, District, Unit #). This gives the local scout pro's the info they need to transfer achievements etc. from ScoutNet into the council records.

In terms of Fees, units recharter in the months from Sep. to Nov. so paying dues would come due at the old unit as well. It may be there will be a 1 or 2 dollar credit if he is registered somewhere else but we won't know that until we recharter.

For Medical forms. Scouts do medical forms once a year. We need to have them on hand for outings etc. Its typically tons easier for everyone to do a new medical form each September. Technically, if you got your old medical form from your old unit, that would suffice if it is less than a year old but you may find yourself filling out a medical form during the year. My big concern on that scenario is that the Den Leader then has to review all medical forms before an outing and if at the last minute he or she finds you are due, you may be filling out a medical form the night before an event.

To ease the admin on the den leaders and to standardize therefore, we ask all families to do a new medical form at the beginning of the scouting season (Sep.). Remember, only complete Sections A and B. The other sections are for longer outings (summer camps etc.)

Hope that helps.

John

If we were in scouts last year but part of a different troop, do we jus bring the medical form or do we bring a new scout application as well? Thanks!
